April

With the month of October in our rear view mirror, we all took time to give acknowledgement and support to those with breast cancer. Of all the invasive types of breast cancers out there, the most common amongst women is invasive ductal carcinoma. With this deadly cancer effecting 80% of breast cancer patients, April Randolph out of Jonesboro, IN was one of the handful of these courageous victims to share her story...

Being born and raised in Jonesboro, her family consists of her husband Roger, son Ryan, and a dog Rocky. Some pastimes she enjoys partaking in include gardening, riding motorcycles, and spending time outdoors. Despite all the fun pastimes, there was something happening to April deep down that would change her lifestyle.

A couple days after Thanksgiving of 2017, April would receive the tragic news that she had been diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. She first acknowledged something wasn’t right when she felt tumors in her armpits. After being diagnosed, she would then have to confront many chemo and radiation treatments, but this did not stop her from maintaining adversity and being who she is.

psalm91_4_2.jpgWith the support from her family, friends, April was able to overcome her cancer. April described the process as, “I knew it was a mind game, and I would have to stay positive and not feel sorry for myself. Im on the go all the time, I dislike the feeling of rest, therefore I pushed forward. I tried to encourage other people while undergoing chemo and radiation.” It is evident April is an individual with good intentions not only for her own sake, but for the well being of those she surrounds herself with. She credits a lot of this to her faith in The Lord.

God has carried April very far through her journey of difficulty. She even stated that, “He carried me all the way through it.” During this time of hardship, April would pray to the Lord as her Father in heaven. A bible verse that April tends to come across often is Psalms 91:4. It says, “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart."

To all those in a similar position as April once was, April wants people to “...keep God close and have hope. It’s easy to trust in good times, but it’s the harder times he teaches us to trust in His plan.”
