Always On My Side

Written by: Bill Sparks Posted on: October 27, 2018 Blog: Warriors

Tim Strand is a fighter. He’s strong-willed and dedicated. He’s a soccer coach, a dedicated husband and dad, and a believer in God’s faithfulness and goodness through every circumstance of life. Since 2014, when doctors first found his cancerous tumor, Tim has undergone proton radiation, infusion therapy and immune therapy. He’s also lost the ability to move the right side of his body. For two years now, continued treatment has stabilized the cancer. Through this journey, Tim and his wife, Sharee, have learned what it means to be thankful for every day and to hold onto every ounce of encouragement, wherever that may come from.

One of those sources of encouragement has been Gilead Ministries. Tim and Sharee have a special place in their house where they store every letter they’ve received from the ministry. Even when the support from others dwindled over the years, Gilead kept giving. The Scriptures each card contains is a reminder to Tim that God is with him, even in his lowest moments.

Tim faces struggles every day. He can no longer drive or provide income for his family, and he experiences constant fatigue, but his inspiring faith and resilience have never wavered. When people ask him why he isn’t angry with God, Tim replies, “God is always on my side.” Because of his strong faith, he can face each day and continue to impact people’s lives as a coach, husband, dad, and Christ-follower.
