Faith Sees The Savior

Written by: Bill Sparks Posted on: April 5, 2017 Blog: GrowLead

You may not be like me, you're probably better off if you aren't...

But...

There are times when I forget. Not just forget, but actually forget and refocus my energy, both spiritually and emotionally, on the negatives.

I forget grace...

I forget salvation...

I forget God's faithfulness...

I forget how much God loves me.

There are times in my life when I struggle. You may identify with me. Your life is full of stuff and you feel as if your world is going in the right direction and all of a sudden, sometimes not all of a sudden, you have lost sight of the the direction you were going.

These times can be short seasons or long drawn out ordeals.

This morning I was reading from my devotional and I came across these words by Max Lucado, I pray they are helpful for you today, or will be ones you can turn to in the future.

"Be strong in the Lord and in his great power." ~Ephesians 6:10

"I stand a few feet away from a mirror and see the face of a man who failed. . . who failed his Maker. Again, I promised I wouldn't, but I did. I was quiet when I should have been bold. I took a seat when I should have taken a stand. (it could be anything you feel you have failed at, from missing regular devotions or arguing with a person you love, not just these things Max's mentions)

If this were the first time, it would be different. But it isn't. How many times can one fall and expect to be caught? . . .

Your eyes look in the mirror and see a sinner, a failure, a promise breaker. But by faith you look in the mirror and see a robed prodigal bearing the ring of grace on your finger and the kiss of your Father on your face. . . .

Your eyes see your faults. Your faith sees your Savior.

Your eyes see your guilt. Your faith see his blood."

(From the book "When God Whispers Your Name" by Max Lucado)

Take a moment and let those words sink in. Let faith begin to leak into your sight. Allow the Savior to help you have the energy to take the next step. And be thankful for the feast of God's grace and love.

This is powerful. It is so easy for me to get caught up in guilt and shame to the point it influences my focus and makes me a very negative person. Today I am choosing to be thankful for God's grace, faithfulness, salvation, and love. Thank you for sharing, Bill!
